The Dangers of Machine Cleaning

Many general carpet cleaners attempt to clean Persian rugs using hot water extraction (steam cleaning) or rotary machines. This is highly destructive. It causes unstable dyes to bleed, strips the natural lanolin from the wool (making it brittle), and often leaves behind soapy residues that attract dirt faster.

Our Safe Hand-Wash Process

• Dye Testing: Every color is tested for colorfastness before any water touches the rug. If dyes are unstable, we apply specialized mordants to lock the color in place.
• Gentle Submersion: We mimic the traditional river-washing techniques of the Middle East, allowing water to flow naturally through the foundation.
• Fringe Protection: The cotton or silk fringes are meticulously hand-detailed, never bleached or scrubbed with harsh rotary brushes.
